After a tedious year of mixed-mode debates (live debates conducted in tandem with Zoom debates). The 36th Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition has finally come to a close. This year, the boys of our English Debating Team have reached the Round of 16, before coming off second best to our dear opponents – Evangel College. Our Team Captain, 5A Lau Wai Ting has been awarded the ‘Most Outstanding Debater’ award for his exceptional performance throughout the course of the competition. He also secured the ‘Best Debater’ and ‘Best Interrogative Debater’ awards in the First Preliminary, while 5B Fung Chi Hang clinched the ‘Best Debater’ award in the Second Preliminary. Compliments to the team for their unceasing efforts under COVID-19. Congratulations!
Happy Birthday! ST. MARCELLIN CHAMPAGNAT
To show our respect to the Marist Brothers, our staff have prepared a fruit basket as a token of our appreciation on 20th May 2021. Due to the pandemic, we could not hold our annual Brothers’ Day gathering as before. Still on this important day, Mr. Leung and Mr. Ching, our Vice Principals, helped us present our gifts to Brother John, the representative of the Marist Brothers of Hong Hong. We wish all the Brothers good health and many more blessings showered from above.
The F.3 Parents’ Gathering for 2020-2021 was held online on 8th May with 96 parents attending the function. Our principal Mr. Iu welcomed the parents and encouraged them to be positive towards the outlook of their children. The gathering then continued with Mr. Leung, our vice principal, delivering a briefing session on the different electives offered in F.4 and their placement method. Our Career Mistress Ms. Chan then informed the parents about the admission requirements of different local universities. Lastly, our school Social Worker, Mr. Tso, shared some tips on what parents could do when helping their sons choose the different electives. After the main session, the parents met and exchanged ideas with the form teachers.
We would like to thank all the attending parents, whose care and love help spur our students towards success.
