Gatekeepers Training Camp

In December, our team of school Gatekeepers attended a two-day training camp focused on disabilities and mental health.

The camp offered an immersive experience, featuring workshops led by experts and heartfelt personal stories shared by individuals living with disabilities. Through these sessions, Gatekeepers gained valuable insights into the daily challenges faced by people with disabilities, fostering a deeper understanding and empathy.

A particularly impactful activity involved playing basketball in wheelchairs, allowing participants to experience the physical and coordination challenges of navigating life from a wheelchair’s perspective.

Beyond these learning opportunities, the camp also included team-building exercises that strengthened camaraderie and trust among the Gatekeepers.

This enriching experience has empowered our Gatekeepers to better serve as compassionate advocates and allies for students navigating mental health and disability challenges within our school community.
