A Memorable Xaverian Morning: Celebrating Legacy and Brotherhood

On 15 December 2025, our campus was filled with joy, pride, and a deep sense of unity as we warmly welcomed many of our cherished old boys back to school for a special photo-taking gathering — a heartfelt moment that celebrated the enduring Xaverian spirit.

One meaningful highlight of the morning was the sharing of green scarves, symbolising unity, continuity, and legacy. These scarves were generously gifted by our senior alumnus from the Class of 1974, Professor Ling Kar Kan, former Director of Planning of the HKSAR. His thoughtful gesture reminded us that the bonds formed at SFXC extend far beyond one’s school years.

We were especially touched by the presence of two of our earliest graduates from 1957 — Mr. George Ko, the founding President of our Alumni Association, and Mr. Percy Childe. At the age of 88, their vitality and unwavering affection for the school deeply moved everyone present. During the gathering, Mr. Ko donated a treasured gold school ring — once an auction item at the SFXC 50th Anniversary Banquet — and made a generous contribution of $100,000 to the SFXC Foundation.

The morning concluded with a joyful group photo and the singing of the school song, as students, teachers, alumni, and staff stood together on the playground, green scarves proudly worn — a powerful image of unity across generations.

This memorable morning beautifully reflected the legacy, love, and lifelong brotherhood that define the Xaverian identity. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who made this meaningful gathering possible.

SFXC70 Anniversary Banquet - A Night of Gratitude, Unity, and Celebration

On 6 December, we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of our school with a grand banquet held at the Hopewell Hotel. More than 1,300 guests, seated at 136 tables, gathered to mark this meaningful milestone — including school management, teachers, alumni, parents, students, and friends — all united in a spirit of gratitude and celebration

Under the theme “Brotherhood – 70 Years and Beyond,” we reflected on our journey since 1955 and gave thanks for the enduring bonds that connect generations of Xaverians. The evening commenced with a prayer led by Bro. John Chong, followed by welcome addresses from our Principal and Prof. Ling Kar Kan (Class of 74), Chairman of the 70th Anniversary Grand Banquet Organising Committee. The singing of our School Song brought everyone together in a moment of pride and unity. A particularly touching highlight was the collective scarf-holding moment, symbolising our shared identity and the enduring spirit of brotherhood across generations.

Throughout the banquet, all guests enjoyed a series of vibrant performances by students and alumni, and shared heartfelt moments of reunion and conversation with beloved teachers and lifelong friends. The banquet was not only a celebration of the past, but also a reunion — a time to reconnect, express gratitude, and look forward together to the future.

One of the most memorable highlights of the evening was the charity auction. Three unique and meaningful items were presented: a calligraphy of school motto by our beloved past principal Brother Anthony; a watercolour painting by renowned artist Mr. Luke Tao (Class of 67) and a stunning metal sculpture depicting our founder St. Marcellin Champagnat created by world-class sculptor Mr. John Lau (Class of 71). What made the evening even more memorable was the extraordinary generosity of our alumni. In particular, the Class of 1974 came together to make a successful bid of 1.3 million. Their selfless contribution serves as a powerful testament to the brotherhood, gratitude, and unwavering commitment of our alumni in giving back to their alma mater.

As we move forward from this milestone celebration, we remain steadfast in our commitment to nurturing future generations with knowledge, values, and character — carrying the enduring spirit of brotherhood with us, for the next 70 years and beyond.

SFXC70 Open Days cum F1 Admission Talks

The 70th Anniversary Open Day, held on 22–23 November, marked a major highlight of our school’s milestone jubilee year and concluded with great success. The event commenced with a grand opening ceremony attended by distinguished guests, alumni, parents and friends of the SFXC community.

Throughout the two-day celebration, visitors were treated to a vibrant programme of student-led activities and performances. Musical showcases, dance shows, drama performances, as well as sports demonstrations and competitions filled the campus with excitement and youthful energy, each reflecting the talent, discipline, and spirit of our young Xavierians.

Meanwhile, over 1,000 parents and primary students attended the F.1 Admission Talks, where they were introduced to our school’s culture, learning environment, and admission procedures. Exhibition rooms prepared by different academic panels and non-academic groups further demonstrated the rich and diverse learning experiences that SFXC continues to provide.

The celebration reached a moving climax at the end of 23 November, when Xavierians—past and present—joined in unison with parents and guests to sing the School Song. This powerful moment of unity and brotherhood offered a fitting close to an unforgettable event, leaving all present deeply impressed by the heritage, values, and spirit of our Xaverian family.

With gratitude for your support, we look forward to welcoming all guests back to our School for the SFXC 75th Anniversary Open Day—as we continue to walk together in the way of the Marists, nurturing generations of gentlemen who are “Gentle in Manner, Resolute in Action”.

Life Planning Career Related Experience: Haven of Hope Hospital for 70th Anniversary Open Day

On November 8, 2025, a group of 20 Form 4 students had the unique opportunity to visit the Haven of Hope Hospital as part of its 70th anniversary Open Day celebrations. Accompanied by our esteemed alumnus Dr Yuen Ka Ye (Class of 1989), the Hospital Chief Executive of Tseung Kwan O Hospital & Haven of Hope Hospital, the students gained valuable insights into the operations of a facility dedicated to caring for patients with long-term illnesses.

The tour provided an extensive overview of the hospital's various departments and the exceptional care offered to patients. Dr Yuen shared his knowledge and experiences, highlighting the importance of compassion in healthcare. A particularly impactful aspect of the visit was the life and death education module that he arranged, which included a sensitive visit to the morgue. This component aimed to help students understand the complexities and emotions surrounding end-of-life care and the significance of supporting both patients and their families during challenging times.

Overall, the event was both educational and profound, allowing students to appreciate the dedication and commitment required in the medical field. Many remarked on how the visit deepened their understanding of healthcare and inspired them to consider future careers in medicine. The experience reinforced the value of empathy and resilience in facing life's most challenging moments.
