Seminar for F.6 students

Before the fateful DSE Result Releasing Day, our school put together a seminar day for our F.6 students on the 7th of July. Teachers from our Counseling Committee and Careers Guidance Committee helped the attendees to learn how to technically, tactically, mentally and emotionally prepare for the release of DSE results. The F.6 boys also got to share their concerns and worries. The event was successfully concluded followed by an evening event for the F.6 parents.

Hong Kong Interschool Astronomy Quest 2016

Great news! A team of our school’s astronomy enthusiasts from the Astronomy Club have won the champion in the Hong Kong Inter-school Astronomy Quest 2016 organized by the Chinese University of Hong Kong on the 2nd of July. As a part of our effort in promoting STEM education, we will engage in more and more of this kind of activities and competition in the coming year.

STEM in mBot Workshop

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education has become a focus of the recent EDB curriculum reform. Catching this wave of educational trend, the school joined the mBot Workshop organized by the City University of Hong Kong. Our students from F.3 and F.5 participated in the robot assembling and programming activities with the objectives to program the robots to play soccer and move alone direction lines automatically. Our students really enjoyed the activities and the hands-on experience. The school will surely put together more STEM programs like this in the coming year.

Funeral for Br. Joseph

At the evening of 16th June 2017, more than 1000 students, alumni, teachers and guests filled up the whole St. Francis of Assisi Church, Shek Kip Mei, to attend the Requiem Mass of our beloved Marist Brother and former principal of SFXS, Br. Joseph Cheung. The Mass was officiated by Rev. Cardinal John Tong and Rev. Bishop Joseph Ha.

To accompany our beloved Brother Joseph to his last journey, in the morning of 17th June 2017, more than 1000 alumni and teachers gathered again at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Shik Kip Mei, to bit farewell to our beloved Brother Joseph. The ceremony was officiated by our alumni priest, Father Joseph Yim. The body of Br. Joseph was then moved to and buried in Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Cemetery. Let us pray for the soul of Br. Joseph and remember him in our hearts.
