F.1 PARENTS' GATHERING (2023-2024)

The F.1 Parents’ Gathering for 2023-2024 was held at our school hall on 23rd September with 121 parents attending the event. The Parents’ Gathering began with the welcoming speech given by the school principal, Mr. Mario Leung. F.1 parents are warmly welcomed to join our SFX family. The seminar then continued with the introduction of our academic structure and national security education, discipline policies and counseling policies.

After that, our school social workers, Mr. Shek Chun Shing and Ms. Wong Yuen Wah led the parents to do some mindfulness activities to raise awareness of their wellness in order to accompany their sons with ease. Parents were also advised on how to help their sons cope with life in secondary school and were warmly reminded not to forget to take care of themselves physically and mentally.

At the end, each parent received a gift bag with candies, chocolate, a tea bag and a thought for the soul card.

After the seminar, the parents met and exchanged ideas with the F.1 Form Teachers.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our F.1 parents, whose active participation made the gathering a meaningful and fruitful event.

History and Culture Study Tour to Malaysia

After years of COVID restrictions, our school’s overseas tours have finally resumed. As a start, 30 of our boys, ranging from Forms 1 to 5, went on a history and culture study tour to Malaysia, accompanied by our teachers Mr. Honly Chan and Mr. David Hui.

Not only did our boys have a chance to experience the diversified cultures in Malacca and Kula Lumpur first-hand, but they also visited many famous and significant landmarks, some with strong connections to our Patron Saint, St. Francis Xavier.

The highlight of the tour was definitely the exchange visit to Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya (CHSPJ) which is also a Marist school. During the half-day exchange event, students in both schools enjoyed quality time by engaging in group activities, making friends, exchanging gifts, and having meals together.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank CHSPJ for their hospitality. We hope that our boys have found this tour a meaningful and rewarding one.

Pre-S1 Summer Bridging Course 2023

The Pre-S1 Summer Bridging Course was successfully held from 20th to 28th July. By our tradition, the English classes were taught by our Native English teachers while other lessons, namely Mathematics, Science, History and Geography, were conducted by our Form 6 graduates.

It was encouraging to see that the Form 1 boys enjoyed their time at our school, and they were all active both inside and outside class time. The course came to an end with a graduation ceremony, during which awards to present to our boys with outstanding performances in terms of conduct and application. We hope that the boys still remember what Mr. Kihiro Ng, the principal of the bridging course, said in the closing speech by heart, which reminded them to make the most of the holidays and live out the Xaverian spirit.

Bruce Lee Memorial Night and Exhibition

On the evening of 19th July 2023, a warm gathering was held in the school as a kick-off of the Bruce Lee Exhibition, marking the 50th anniversary of the passing away of the martial arts legend, who was admitted to our school in 1956.  At the gathering, schoolmates of Bruce Lee, including Mr. Henry Fan Hung Ling, Mr. Chong Chan Yau, Mr. Stephen Chan Chi Wan, Mr. Teddy Chan Tak Sum and Mr. Cheuk Wai Kit, were invited to reminisce about the joyous school life back in the 1950s.

The Bruce Lee Exhibition was held at the covered playground from 19th July 2023 to 23rd July 2023. Despite a short period of display, hundreds of people, including Bruce Lee fans around the world, our alumni, parents, teachers and students, paid a visit and learned how the legend was enlightened by our Marist Brothers and his bonding with the school.

Our school is glad to be part of the series of commemorative events organized by the Bruce Lee Club.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our senior alumni for their unfailing support for the school!
