The PTA Annual General Meeting of 2018-2019 was recently held on 15th December 2018. Thanks to the participation of about 120 parents and teachers, the meeting smoothly ran its course and many important issues were settled, including the elections for different committees. We look forward to working with all the parent representatives to advance the development of the school in the coming years.
On the 10th December 2018, we welcomed the visit by teacher and student representatives of the Catholic High School (Sibu), which is a Marist school in Malaysia. We started a Student Exchange Program with this brother school last year to broaden students’ horizon and to build solidarity between Marist schools across the East Asia Province. In this second year of student exchange experience, Catholic High School (Sibu) sent 9 students into our mist. They will join our lessons to experience the vibrant school life of SFXC and local Hong Kong culture in the coming week.
Let us welcome our guests from Malaysia with open arms and show them the best of SFXC and Hong Kong.
The commencement ceremony of SFXC Mentorship Scheme 2018-19 was held successfully on the 8th of December. It began with a variety of activities including certificate presentation and ice-breaking games, which were followed by a grouped sharing time. Over 100 of our participating senior form students spent a wonderful afternoon with their mentors. Both parties enjoyed the precious moments offered by this event to exchange valuable experiences and happy memories they had in SFXC.
Mentorship is an important way for us to pass on our unique culture and family spirit to the next generation of Xaverians. We hope that more students and alumni will join the scheme to build up a life time of friendship in a mutually supportive way.
On 8th December 2018, the Career Guidance Committee co-organized one of its annual major events - the Career Expo 2018, with the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association (HKPASEA). It intended to expose over 230 of our senior form students to different career paths. The event started off with an inspiring and meaningful keynote speech by Mr. KK Tsang, the Founding Director of HKPASEA and the Convener of Life Planning Program for Secondary School Students. It was followed by an informative sharing session from 10 experienced guest speakers from 10 different sectors. There is no doubt that the Career Expo 2018 has successfully equipped our students with comprehensive and the most relevant information on a variety of study paths and career options. In addition, it also helped to unlock the potential of our students with life planning skills and strengthening our career guidance services in school.
