In the height of the 3rd wave of the local Covid-19 outbreak, we shut down all our Christmas gatherings but that didn’t stop us from celebrating the festive season and expressing our gratefulness towards the Brothers. On behalf of all staff of the school, Mr. Iu presented a gift basket to our Brothers on 23rd December 2020. Though there weren’t many on scene to witness the event, distance cannot stop us from expressing our thankfulness in every little ways. So let us all continue to remember our Brothers in prayers. May we all have a safe and merry Christmas at home.
Since the establishment of St. Francis Xavier’s College at 45 Sycamore Street, there has been a number of landmark renovation projects, including the extension work of the East Wing in 1968, construction of the West Wing in 1984, installation of air conditioners in all classrooms in 1992 and the School Hall in 1996, completion of the Jubilee Wing in 2005, to name but a few.
As one of the important milestones to mark the 65th Anniversary of the school, we have planned to refurbish the covered playground, turning it to a multi-purpose activity area for students, teachers, parents and alumni.
We are excited to announce that the renovation is in good progress – new tiles have been paved, laminated glasses and new metal wires have been installed. And we are now appealing for sponsorships to complete the rest of the renovation work, including installation of false ceiling, air-conditioning, LED wall, upgrading tuck shop facilities as well as other miscellaneous items. The total budget is estimated to be around 3 million dollars.
To make the above vision come true, your financial assistance is highly appreciated. Donations can be sent by post with a cheque payable to ‘The IMC of St. Francis Xavier’s College – A/C No. 2’ together a completed donation form. Any donations of more than $100 will receive a receipt for tax exemption purposes.
On the 21st November 2020, we successfully held the 2nd round of our F.1 Admission Information Day. Due to the pandemic, we had to scale down the number of guest we could accommodate to half of what we had last year in the first day. To accommodate the overwhelming response, we organized this extra round of Information Day for our future applicants. Now both events have been concluded successfully, we wish our applicants the best of luck.
About 600 parents and pupils from primary schools gathered at the Champagnat Hall last Saturday, 14 November 2020, to attend the three sessions of our first Information Day.
The programme began with a seminar introducing our school and the F1 enrollment procedure, followed by videos featuring the school wind band and interviews with the SFXC students and alumni about Marist education. Each session was concluded by students’ performances. The guests enjoyed the performances and were keen to know more about our school.
To accommodate the overwhelming response, we will organize another round of Information Day this coming Saturday on 21st November, offering two more seminar sessions. We would like to thank all the students, teachers, parents and alumni who gave their best to make this Information Day a resounding success.
