On the morning of 7th December 2024, our school kicked off the first celebratory event in anticipation of the 70th Birthday of St. Francis Xavier’s College.
The day began with a solemn national flag-raising ceremony and a thanksgiving mass hosted by Rev. Father Joseph Yim. Our supervisor, Bro. Chin, then gave a warm welcome speech, extending his gratitude to all present, followed by our Principal, Mr. Leung, who reminded us of our proud heritage of Brotherhood.
Our officiating guest, Father Yim Tak Lung, who is our alumnus, shared with us his fond memories of studying at St. Francis Xavier’s College and encouraged every one of us to treasure our identity as Xaverians.
One of the highlights of the Opening Ceremony was the lighting ceremony, when our Principal and Supervisor, together with all our guests of honour, activated the pillars displaying the letters ‘SFXC70’, commemorating this significant milestone of our school history.
What came next was stunning performances from our Dancing Society and Wind Band, as well as the significant moment of the Time Capsule Ceremony, when our Supervisor, our Principal, our teacher manager Mr. Wong Ka Kin, PTA Chairlady Ms. Angela Cheng and President of SFXC Alumni Association Mr. CY Kwong and Chairman of the Student Union Mr. Li Yiu Ching took turns to put items of historical and sentimental significance into the time capsule.
The ceremony concluded with our longstanding tradition of proudly singing our school song and three resounding cheers.
In the coming year, a series of celebratory events will be organised, including a Fundraising Walkathon along the Shing Mun Reservior on 21 March 2025, Pilgrimage to Lyon during the Easter holidays from 12 to 21 April 2025, distinguished alumni sharing sessions, MacLehose trail breakthrough challenge, SFXC70 Open Day in November 2025, Thanksgiving Mass cum Closing Ceremony as well as SFXC 70th Grand Banquet on 6 Dec 2025 as the grand finale.
We hope to see you all in the coming events!
