SFXC70 Anniversary Closing Thanksgiving Mass

The 70th anniversary closing mass was held at Saint Francis of Assisi's Catholic Church. We were most blessed to be joined by several Marist brothers, Lay Marists, principals from fellow Catholic schools, alumni, and other honoured guests in this Eucharistic celebration.

Emulating our patron saint’s journeys in his extensive missionary work, over 400 students and staff made a short-distance walk from school to the church, symbolizing a pilgrimage to the house of God, in keeping with the Church’s theme for the Jubilee Year celebration, "Pilgrims of Hope."

It was our great honour to have His Eminence Cardinal Stephen Chow Sau-yan, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, preside over the liturgy—alongside four priests who share a deep connection with our school, serving as concelebrants. In his homily, Cardinal Chow commended St Francis Xavier’s College for carrying out the mission of education by nurturing generations of children with God’s love, raising them in the legacy of our patron saint to be sincere and passionate men who are "Gentle in Manner, Resolute in Action."

As the closing Mass drew to a close, so too did the curtain fall on our year-long celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of St Francis Xavier's College. We look forward to welcoming all our guests to our school’s 75th Anniversary Open Day to witness our Brotherhood—70 Years and Beyond.
