In 2025, the Catholic Church celebrated the Jubilee Year with the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong actively participated by organizing a variety of events, encouraging the faithful to engage in Eucharistic Adoration, frequent the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and extend care to those in need.
Adding to this spirit of hope, the “Light of Hope” oil lantern relay was inaugurated on the Jubilee’s opening day. Over the course of two years, this symbolic lantern will journey to every parish in Hong Kong, remaining in each for two weeks. This initiative inspires believers to radiate hope in their daily lives, spreading its light far and wide.
The Light of Hope lantern symbolizes resilience, guidance, and comfort, serving as a beacon that dispels darkness and inspires perseverance through life’s challenges. It represents an inner flame of strength, encouraging individuals to find peace, maintain faith in better days, and shine as a positive influence on others.
We were honored to welcome the Light of Hope to our college on 29th January 2026. The lantern was lit before the morning prayer during our school assembly. Br. Chin, the Supervisor of the school, blessed all teachers and students with the light. A solemn procession followed, and the Light of Hope was placed in our school chapel. The chapel was then opened for prayer during recess, lunchtime, and after school.
A Mass was celebrated after school in the chapel before the Light of Hope was reverently transferred to Our Lady of China Church.
