Pilgrimage to St. Thomas the Apostle Church

To commemorate the Jubilee Year, a pilgrimage was organized by the Pastoral Committee and the Religious Studies Department on 4th September 2025. 24 Form 1 to Form 6 Catholic students went on a pilgrimage to St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Tsing Yi.

The primary objective of the pilgrimage was to deepen the participants’ understanding of their faith through direct engagement with the history and sacred architecture of St. Thomas Church.

The church volunteer took us on a tour from the Holy Door to the underground chapel. Our students were truly amazed by the church’s structure and the stories behind its design and features. What astounded our students most was the first-class relic of St. Thomas is housed right in the underground chapel.

The entire visit was a deeply solemn and sacred experience for our students, leaving a lasting impression on their spiritual journey.

The SFXC Foundation Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2025

The SFXC Foundation Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2025 was held on 4 September. We were honoured to welcome Mr. Allan Yeung, the Vice Chairman of the SFXC Foundation, back to his alma mater to present awards to our students who have outstanding results in the HKDSE 2025.

Established in 2006, the SFXC Foundation directs alumni donations toward improving school facilities, enhancing teaching capabilities, and supporting students through scholarships and financial aid.

Congratulations to the boys who received the awards. We encourage our current F.6 students to continue striving for excellence, following in the footsteps of their graduated brothers.

Basketball Team’s Training and Competition Trip to Malaysia

From July 17 to 25, 2025, our school’s basketball team—17 students from Form 3 to Form 5—embarked on a training and competition trip to Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia, to participate in the 4th Marist (East Asia) Basketball Tournament 2025. The team was led by Brother John Chong, Mr. Wong Ka Kin (Vice Principal), and Coach Wong Ka Lok.

The tournament, held at Sibu Catholic High School (詩巫公教中學) and hosted by its Principal Brother Anthony Tay, brought together Marist-affiliated schools from Malaysia, Hong Kong China, the Philippines, Japan, and other East Asian regions. Themed “Journey Together as the Global Family,” the event promoted unity and cultural exchange.

The trip aimed to:

1.       Strengthen ties among Marist schools in East Asia

2.       Build teamwork and sportsmanship

3.       Encourage personal growth and excellence

4.       Foster a sense of responsibility

We are proud to share that our Form 3 student Wong Yik Him Harvey was named Top Scorer of the tournament—a remarkable achievement that brought honour to our team.

Our sincere thanks go to Brother Anthony Tay, Brother John Chong, and the St. Francis Xavier’s College Alumni Association for their generous support in making this meaningful journey possible.

Summer Bridging Course for Our New Form 1 Students

The Summer Bridging Course for the new Form 1 students was held from 16 July to 24 July, lasting a total of 7 days.

During the course, students became accustomed to learning in English. Daily English lessons, taught by Native English Teachers, covered topics such as phonics, classroom language, note-taking and presentation skills. Content subjects — namely Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography — were taught by our Form 6 graduates, who were selected for their excellent academic performance and conduct.

The course concluded with a graduation ceremony, during which certificates were awarded to students who demonstrated outstanding learning attitudes and conduct. Our School Principal Mr. Leung, encouraged our new F1 boys to make the best use of their summer holidays to prepare themselves for the new school life. The Course Principal, Mr. Isaac Ho Wai Ching, gave heartfelt remarks, urging them to take their learning seriously, show empathy, and build trust within the Xaverian family.

We hope our Form 1 boys will carry this positive spirit into the new academic year and grow into responsible, caring, and motivated learners.
