School Policy

Management and Organisation

The Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) decides on the school policies and other key issues proposed by the Staff Management Consultative Committee (SMCC). The SMCC comprises our Principal, senior administrative staff and elected teachers. It studies, plans and evaluates school policies and programmes before making recommendations. The working committees and subject panels implement policies designed by the SMCC and approved by the School Management Committee.

Learning and Teaching

To improve learning and teaching in the classroom, frequent professional sharing of experience among teachers is encouraged. To align with the educational reforms, theme-based and interactive approaches are applied to develop students’ generic skills. Both formative and summative assessments are adopted to evaluate students’ academic and non-academic achievements.

Home-school correspondence

To facilitate home-school correspondence, parents are encouraged to check regularly the student’s handbook. For special information, the school will issue parent letter through SchoolApp. Parents of each student has to provide ONE mobile phone number for SchoolApp contact and such phone number shall be deemed to be the Registered Phone Number. To avoid multiple replies or conflicted responses, correspondence from the school will be sent to the registered phone number ONLY and not any phone number. If there shall needs for parents to reply, any reply via other phone number other than the registered phone number will not be entertained.

Ethos

Under an atmosphere of mutual respect, a harmonious relationship has been established between students and teachers. To foster students’ self- development, we prefer counseling and giving advice to punishment or reprimand, believing that each student will realise his own mistakes and shortcomings and improve himself. The school is open all year round to provide students with a venue for self-study and other activities.

Medium of Instruction

The English language has been adopted as the medium of instruction since the founding days of the college. To provide students the opportunity to learn an extra language, regular Putonghua lessons are scheduled in junior classes. Students can further expose themselves to various language skills by joining different activities such as the Extensive Reading Scheme, speech contests, debates and writing competitions. We are making every effort to promote biliteracy and trilingualism among students.

Curriculum

To cope with the rapid changing demand of society and to satisfy individual needs, we offer a variety of subject combinations to senior students. They may select from the different options offered according to their interests and abilities.

Multiple-Intelligence

Conduct Awards, Academic Awards, Service Awards and the Most Outstanding Athlete Awards are given to students with exceptionally good performance in their respective fields. Tutorial classes are organized on regular basis and during the summer vacation for those students who are trying hard to catch up.

Promotion

For less able students, different arrangements can be made. Students may be promoted on probation or asked to sit for re-examinations or repeat according to their performance in internal examinations.

I.T. in Education

There are more than 250 sets of computers physically and wirelessly connected to a local area network on campus. With such installation, the existing functions of the IT facilities in every classroom are further extended for educational purposes. It is now very convenient for our teachers to use the computer network and other technological facilities in their daily teaching and sharing of resources, thus enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
